Doctoral student and the "Nano-Guy"
Abdul is the driving force of interdisciplinary research theme in my lab. He focuses on understanding the disease biology of metastatic castration resistant prostate adenocarcinoma, especially its neuroendocrine transdifferentiation lineage plasticity. He has collaborated with chemists, crystallographers and synthesized a novel, azido trinuclear Zinc (II) Schiff base complex [{ZnL(N3)}2 Zn]. H2O (1) (termed ComAR1) trapped it in a Chitosan nanocarrier and successfully targeted PI3K/AKT and MAPK signalling in prostate cancer cells. His work demonstrated excellent anti-cancer potential of nano-encapsulated ComAR1 in both 2D and 3D spheroid models of this lethal cancer. We have filed a patent on the nano formulation as well!! His hard work, enthusiasm and a zeal for science awarded him 5 publications including a paper in Journal of Molecular Structure.
